The Institute can give advice on possible routes towards a career in fisheries, including a list of the various courses available throughout the UK and abroad which is available in the Careers in Fisheries booklet. The advisory booklet is intended as a guide for persons seeking careers in fisheries. Points of entry into a generalised career structure are indicated for persons with differing levels of professional expertise and experience.

The member’s forum contains a section for asking for advice on jobs, student placements and careers posted and answered by IFM members.
The IFM Fisheries Jobs Resources pages provides a "marketplace" for fisheries and environmental opportunities to be marketed to IFM Members and non members alike. This is a free to view service provided by the IFM. If you are interesting in advertising fisheries opportunities on the website as a subscription service or as a one off then please e-mail info@ifm.org.uk or website@ifm.org.uk for more details.
