2nd April 2008 - Isle of Man Government - Department of Agriculture Fisheries and Forestry is seeking Expressions of Interest: The Department is seeking Expressions of Interest from suitable research organisations to undertake the following research investigation in the Isle of Man:- “Scientific investigation into the status of coarse fish populations in stillwaters in the Isle of Man”. Those interested in submitting a tender for this contract, which is to commence July 2008 for a period of no longer than 5 months, are invited to register their interest. 31st January 2007 - Warning over deadly fish parasite Scotland 's river managers are warning that one careless angler could wipe out the country's wild salmon stocks and ruin rural communities. They fear that a fisherman will accidentally import the deadly Gyrodactylus salaris parasite which has already devastated stocks in 20 Norwegian rivers. 12th December 2006 -New Regulations to Affect Fish Transportation New EU regulations covering the transport of animals come into force on January 5 2007. They cover anyone transporting vertebrates including fish and will therefore impact on anyone transporting live fish for removals, stocking or between fish farms. As of the 5th January transporting animals in connection with economic activity needs to hold a transporter authorisation issued by the State Veterinary Service.
