Regulatory

Environment Agency (England & Wales) - The leading public body for protecting and improving the environment in England and Wales . Playing an important role in the management of freshwater fisheries in England and Wales .

Cefas (UK) - Cefas is a scientific research and advisory centre working in fisheries management, environmental protection and aquaculture. Cefas is an Executive Agency of the UK Government's Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra).

Central Fisheries Board (Ireland) - Advises government on conservation, protection, management, development and improvement of inland fisheries and sea angling and provides support, co-ordination and provides specialist support services to the Regional Fisheries Boards of Ireland.

Scottish Executive Fisheries - The Scottish Executive is the devolved government for Scotland and the fisheries branch has responsibility for Scotland 's freshwater fish populations

Association of Salmon Fishery Boards (Scotland) - Represents, co-ordinates and promotes the interests of Scottish salmon and sea trout fisheries and generally to take such steps as may be desirable for the protection, preservation and development of salmon fisheries of Scotland

Fisheries Research Services (Scotland) - is an agency of the Scottish Executive Environment and Rural Affairs Department (SEERAD). FRS provides expert scientific and technical advice to Government on marine and freshwater fisheries, aquaculture and the protection of the aquatic environment.

Fisheries Conservancy Board for N. Ireland - Responsible for the conservation and protection of the salmon and inland fisheries of Northern Ireland other than the fisheries of the Foyle, Carlingford and Irish Lights Commission.

Department Of Agriculture and Rural Development (N. Ireland) - Government Department responsible for the development of the agricultural, forestry and fishing industries in Northern Ireland


Non-governmental

The Society for the Environment (SocEnv) - Umbrella body that is a natural agglomeration of professional bodies sharing common aims and co-operating to share a single qualification, helping to embed the goal of sustainable environmental management in all professional activities and practices.

The ACA - a unique organisation which fights pollution and other damage to water environments throughout the UK.  Using the common law the ACA can seek compensation for the person or angling club for the damage caused by the pollution.

Salmon and Trout Association - A UK-wide membership organisation representing the views of game anglers.

Atlantic Salmon Trust - A UK based organisation with Atlantic wide interests which champions the wild salmon and sea trout.

Freshwater Biological Association (FBA) - An independent membership organisation, it aims to promote freshwater science through innovative research, scientific meetings and publications.

Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) - is an independent non-profit organisation that promotes responsible fishing practices

WWF Freshwater Fisheries - The WWF were established in 1961 and now operates in more than 100 countries, funding just under 2,000 conservation projects and employing almost 4,000 people around the world.

The Association of Rivers Trusts - The umbrella organisation established to represent the rivers trust movement in England and Wales . It works to support its members, emerging community groups and encourage partnerships with Government bodies and others to promote practical and sustainable solutions to environmental issues.

Loughs Agency - aims to conserve, manage, promote and develop the Foyle and Carlingford catchments for commercial and recreational purposes


International

FAO Dept of Fisheries - The United Nations Specialised Agency charged with food and agriculture. Its Fisheries Department is responsible for policy advice to member Governments and it collects and disseminated data on fish production.  It also services the European Inland Advisory Commission that groups 34 European Countries to provide advice and foster collaboration on inland fisheries and aquaculture matters

North Atlantic Salmon Conservation Organisation (NASCO) - Established to promote the conservation, restoration, enhancement and rational management of salmon stocks in the North Atlantic Ocean through international co-operation. IFM has Non Government Organisation (NGO) observer body status allowing a representative to attend NASCO's annual meeting of Council and Commission.

Atlantic Salmon Federation - The Atlantic Salmon Federation is an international non-profit organization that promotes the conservation and wise management of the wild Atlantic salmon and its environment.

International Council for the Exploration of the Seas (ICES) - ICES is the organisation that co-ordinates and promotes marine research in the North Atlantic . Scientists working through ICES gather information about the marine ecosystem. As well as filling gaps in existing knowledge, this information is also developed into unbiased, non-political advice.

International Atlantic Salmon Research Board – An initiative of the North Atlantic Salmon Conservation Organization (NASCO) The Board establishes and administers an International Atlantic Salmon Research Programme

European Aquaculture Society - Promotes contacts between all involved or interested in marine and freshwater aquaculture, facilitates the circulation of aquaculture related information and aims to enhance cooperation among governmental, scientific and commercial organizations and individuals on all matters dealing with aquaculture.

American Fisheries Society  (AFS) - The mission of the American Fisheries Society is to improve the conservation and sustainability of fishery resources and aquatic ecosystems by advancing fisheries and aquatic science and promoting the development of fisheries professionals.


Angling Links

Grayling Society - Promotes awareness, conservation and angling for Grayling world-wide.

National Federation of Anglers - (NFA) Lobby at all levels to protect anglers' rights, for freshwater fish angling they offer a wide range of services to angling clubs and individual anglers alike.

NAFAC - The national representative body for angling and fisheries consultative organisations and represents more than 400.000 anglers

Scottish Anglers National Association - Representing the interests of all game anglers in Scotland

Scottish Federation of Coarse Anglers - Representing the interests of all coarse fish anglers in Scotland.


Miscellaneous

FishBase - Online Ichthyology database, The main goal for FishBase was to cover all fish species known to science.

NAUSICAÄ - French National Sea Experience Center, in Boulogne-sur-Mer (Northern France), is a Science Center entirely dedicated to the relationship between Mankind and the Sea. Its goal is to incite the general public to discover the sea and to love it, while raising its awareness on the need for a better management of marine resources.

Blackwell Aquaculture, Fisheries and Fish Biology - Publishers dedicated web site for aquaculture, fisheries, fish biology and aquatic sciences

London Freshwater Group - One of the five specialist groups of the Linnean Society of London. Formed in 1973, it meets twice each year for the exchange of ideas and discussion on a range of subjects relating to freshwater science

FreshwaterLife is collaborative website that collates information on freshwaters, freshwater animals and plants, and freshwater science.

With a view to fisheries - Site dedicated to the practice and theory of fisheries management, primarily in the UK.

oneFish Community Directory - A fishery projects portal and participatory resource gateway for the fisheries and aquatic research and development sector. oneFish also hosts the Fish Technology Knowledge Base

The Academy of Experts provides accreditation, training, support and guidance on technical issues for anyone who is regularly required to use his/her expertise in court as an expert witness.

The Angling Times - is the UK's biggest-selling fishing publication. The Angling Times website includes breaking news, forums, a gallery and venue details.
