IFM 38th Annual Conference Westport Co. Mayo Ireland
The IFM - Ireland Branch looks forward to welcoming you to this year’s conference which will be held in
Hotel Westport, Co. Mayo from 15th – 18th October 2007
Westport is a delightful 18th century village at the head of Clew Bay on the Atlantic coast of Ireland, easily reached by air from a number of British airports to Knock, Galway, Shannon or Dublin and by rail or road.
The area is renowned for its natural beauty and, in particular, the town of Westport has been voted Ireland’s tidiest and probably prettiest town for two of the past three years.
Westport is a superb location for any conference, but is particularly suitable for the topic of Fisheries Management, having hosted the annual NASCO conference some years ago. In addition, the town has the internationally famous state-owned Erriff Fishery some 20 miles away as well as the Marine Institute research facility at Furnace, Newport where sea trout and salmon research has been in progress for more than 50 years.
This year we will be organising activities for non fisheries partners – subject to demand - as well as some very interesting field trips.
The programme is full of interest for all branches of Fisheries Management and we can guarantee traditional Irish hospitality.
