Chartership

The Institute, in partnership with a number of other UK institutes and societies concerned with the environment, is one of the Constituent Bodies of the Society for the Environment (http://www.socenv.org.uk/). The Society now has a Royal Charter and is empowered to award the qualification of Chartered Environmentalist.

The IFM is licensed to grant this qualification and all Registered and Licentiate Members can apply following procedures laid down by Council. The qualification recognises responsibility for sustainable environmental management and is important for employment.

Acquisition of the CEnv qualification shows that the holder belongs to a select group, whose commitment to the environment has been recognized by their peers. It will enable employers to distinguish those who have developed their environmental skills and have demonstrated their enthusiasm to embrace the concept of sustainability in their working and personal lives. Several major employers have indicated their readiness to use the qualification to assist in their recruitment and training of staff, and holders of CEnv are expected to have a distinct advantage in securing employment.
