The Taff Salmon Homecoming Project, is an initiative, which set out to change the perceptions among the Taff Valley community of their local river and to foster a sustainability culture through winning the hearts and minds of the children. How? With a network of classroom salmon hatcheries. (Download available shortly )

Alex Hickman, Marine Stewardship Council. There is a major global problem concerning overfishing affecting 70-80% of the worlds fish stocks. The MSC has introduced a voluntary scheme in which a fishery may be recognised as sustainably managed through a certification and eco-labelling programme and an attempt is made to harness consumer power. 1st June 2005: Implications of sedimentation on the spawning gravels of the Wye

Dr David Sear, Southampton University. This work was part of a larger scale study looking at sedimentation in several rivers. Much of the work focused on the impacts of fine sediments on salmon egg survival, implications for salmon populations and how this knowledge may help improve river management. (Download 2.02Mb )
