Rob Evans (Honorary Secretary)

My career in Fisheries began in 1996 when I joined the South East Wales Environmental Appraisal Team to work on a radio-tracking project on the upper Wye - probably one of the most enjoyable work experiences of my career to date. I also spent several years with Regional Fisheries and also with the National Salmon Centre. I currently work as a Fisheries Scientist, specialising in salmonid stock assessment, with Head Office. I caught my first sea trout on the river Ystwyth when I was six years old and have been a keen angler ever since.

Jim Gregory (Chair)

It’s a tough job, following on from John, but at least we don't need to change the stationary.  I joined the IFM in 1990, the same time I started work tracking salmon through Cardiff Bay. Since then, my career path seems to have been aimed towards developing the science and technology behind freshwater fisheries monitoring. I am currently a Senior Technical Specialist with the Environment Agency's National Fisheries Team. When not being that I spend time sanding a wooden boat, which I may actually get to sail one day, talking about sailing, mountain biking and other semi-energetic pastimes.

Sophie Arbuthnot (Events Programme Secretary)

My fisheries career started just five years ago at the Environment Agency’s National Fisheries Laboratory, from where I moved into Fisheries and Biology, in East Anglia and North and South Wales. I am currently a Fisheries Officer in the South East Wales Environment Appraisal Team. I have a BSc in Marine Biology and an MSc in Fish Biology. I like climbing and hiking, scuba diving and playing in rivers.
