IFM Southern Branch - Events
A study is being conducted by the University of Southampton to identify causes of extinction of the burbot (Lota lota) from the UK and examine the feasibility of a future reintroduction. This research will examine the species’ biological and ecological requirements, genetic lineage and critical life history traits as well as the public's perception of a possible reintroduction.

In order to examine the views of interested parties to a possible reintroduction, a questionnaire is available online. We would ask you take the time to fill this out as the opinions gathered from this survey are a vital component of the research. To access the questionnaire please go to www.burbot.soton.ac.uk. Alternatively a paper copy is available on request, please see website for contact details.
Tom Worthington from the University of Southampton will be presenting a talk on his research at a Southern branch meeting in the near future. If you’re interested in coming along and finding out more about the study keep an eye out for details here on the IFM website.
